Vital Spirit Breathwork

You may be wondering, "what is breathwork?"
Breathwork is a healing modality that utilizes breathing exercises to improve mental, physical and spiritual health. Breathwork has been shown to reduce stress, increase awareness and boost the immune system. Sessions may be done one-on-one or in a group setting. Using a simple, 2 stage breath, the participant is invited into an altered state. Within this safe container, there is an opportunity for the exploration and understanding of trauma. These sessions are an active meditation ending with a period of reflection and integration. Breathwork is a modality that is safe for everyone, and can be deeply cathartic and transformative. Once the active breathing is mastered, participants are encouraged to continue their practice on their own.
My interest in breathwork started over a decade ago as part of my yoga practice, with simple pranayama techniques. Flash forward to 2018 when I experienced my first one-on-one session of holotropic-style breathwork in New Orleans. I had been exploring altered states of consciousness in regards to addressing my own trauma, and was overwhelmed at the personal success I experienced with breathwork. I wanted to learn more, and deepen my practice so in early 2019 I attended a formal extended training hosted by David Elliott in the beautiful mountains of New Mexico.
To say that breathwork has significantly changed my life is an understatement. I have found it to be an incredibly valuable tool for dealing with deep-rooted traumas, existential crises and everyday stresses. Bonus points for it being accessible, non-addictive, appropriate for nearly all ages and physical conditions as well as affordable.
